This side of the memorial has the inscription “Timelines” tracing significant events and history surrounding the fire; recognition of the actions by many individuals and groups for better worker conditions and safety, and, the laws passed to safeguard all from such a tragedy re-occurring.
Inscribed on a dark grey granite panel is the website from Cornell University, “Remembering The 1911 Triangle Factory Fire”, for visitors to the memorial to access more detailed information and history of the fire.

Materials for The Memorial
The choice of materials for the removable triangular panel system – glass and granite, and, a steel column system to support the panels – were used for both permanence and resistance to fire. The placement of these materials also allow for the existing historical landmark plaques and façade features to remain seen. Thus, for the base of the Memorial, black granite and dark gray granite panels are used, and, the vertical columns, horizontal spandrels and the group of three triangle panels on the remainder of the building façades, are of dark grey glass. Each panel, glass and granite, is slightly titled and angled to create a gentle undulating surface. Each panel is demountable and individually connected to the steel structural grid system by three connectors. The steel structural system is connected to the building façade avoiding all key architectural features. This entire system, titled panel and structural grid, is within the 14inch allowable distance, from the building that all designed elements must not exceed.
